Insurance Track Degree Requirements

Required Major Courses

Current upper-division (junior/senior) requirements for the major:

  • RMI 3750 Risk Modeling (3.0)
  • RMI 4150 Theory of Risk (3.0)
  • RMI 4300 Risk Management (3.0)
  • RMI 4350 Enterprise Risk Management (3.0)

The above courses are recommended to be taken in that sequence along with three of the following courses:

  • RMI 3500 Introduction to Risk Management and Insurance (3.0)
  • FI 4020 Financial Analysis and Introduction to Loan Structuring
  • LGLS 4050 Legal Transactions
  • PFP 4000 Personal Financial Planning
  • RMI 4010 Life Insurance (3.0)
  • RMI 4020 Property and Liability Insurance (3.0)
  • RMI 4530 Employee Benefit Plans (Same as Mgs 4385) 3.0
  • RMI 4700 Insurance Operations (3.0)

Students who lack broad knowledge of insurance principles, markets, and institutions are strongly encouraged to begin their course of studies with RMI 3500.

Note: Three of the required major courses (RMI 3750, RMI 4150, and RMI 4350) have MA 1113 or higher as a prerequisite.
