“The forward thinking nature of this department is unique. We are focused on bringing additional resources to support students at all levels and encouraging world-class faculty research. We fully intend to continue to be at the forefront of the field of risk science.”
David Buechner comes to the Department of Risk Management & Insurance after a 12-year career in the development office at St. Pius X Catholic High School (SPX) in Atlanta. During his time at SPX he led or served on various teams and committees that guided the institution’s strategic changes in response to a competitive environment. The institution successfully completed two strategic planning cycles, rebranded and changed its market positioning, and undertook two successful capital campaigns. In the capacity of alumni director (8 years) and director of development (4 years) Mr. Buechner led successful fundraising teams that increased both the total amount raised and participation levels for the annual fund.
This marks a return to Georgia State for Mr. Buechner. He worked as assistant director of the Small Business Development Center in the early ’80s while finishing his marketing degree. He received a BA in Marketing degree in 1982. After graduation he co-founded and ran a local home furnishings business until 2001. He brings his entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative style to RMF and is excited about increasing the resources available for the RMI program.
